The term “Diploma” may be used for both regulated and non-regulated programmes in accordance with standard UK educational practice. The use of the word “Diploma” alone does not indicate that a course is regulated by Ofqual or listed on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF).

Only qualifications officially approved and regulated by an Ofqual-recognised awarding organisation may be described as:

  • Ofqual-regulated
  • RQF qualifications
  • Regulated qualifications
  • Official UK regulated qualifications

Where a course is non-regulated or CPD-accredited, partners must clearly present it as such and must not imply or suggest that it holds regulated status.

Partners are strictly prohibited from:

  • Adding “RQF”, “Ofqual”, or “regulated” wording to non-regulated course titles
  • Using Ofqual logos or awarding body logos on non-regulated certificates or marketing materials
  • Presenting CPD-accredited or non-regulated courses as equivalent in regulatory status to regulated UK qualifications unless officially authorised in writing
  • Combining regulated qualification documents with non-regulated course documentation in a manner that may cause misunderstanding or misrepresentation

All references to regulated qualifications must clearly identify the awarding organisation and qualification title exactly as approved by the awarding body.
